I am not convinced of the soul let alone the concept of duality, especially a duality between mind and body or between spirit and body. But hypothetically let us proceed. I can picture two scenarios:
1) A soul is assigned to a body. Might be created by god, reincarnated, possessed, who knows. There is little reason to assume that differences in the body will cause differences in the soul. It may well be that all souls are the same and alien would be granted the same type soul as a sufficiently advanced ai. However it may also be possible that in this scenario souls vary and there must be some amount of compatibility between soul and host.
2) Souls are created for one life in particular. They may be immortal, they may die with the host, or they may linger but eventually die on a different time scale but they are each bespoke entities unique to each life lived. But without understanding the process I can only speculate if it is created in reaction to the body or independently. Only in the former is this question relevant.
