Consider the possibility that I may not be lying. Just something to think about. If you acknowledge Catholicism from a cultural aspect then you have to acknowledge the legitimacy that saints are a part of that culture. Do you think saints were acknowledged as such during their time on earth? A good portion of them were not really known until several years later after their death until after they become canonized. There can be several people roaming this earth right now that could be the next saint the Catholic Church canonizes. That's not the way to look at it. Currently you're thinking that something is wrong, you need to make amends and you're here to accomplish that. But someone gave you this anchor of sorts to keep you weighed down to some moral obligation they claim you've earned. Do you feel a real connection to that? Why do you feel compelled to atone for something someone else is describing to you which you've (supposedly) done?
Well what if you rejected this idea that you are, by default, here to atone for something, to fix your mistakes, to be better than you were "last time" or whatever else? What if you instead embraced this as a chance to experience something you haven't before? What if the Heaven and Hell tropes are instead potential destinations along this current journey, based on the choices you make throughout your life?
The people who have impressed this idea onto you, that you need to make up for something in an effort to "save" your Soul, seem to be keeping you from something.
