Something similar, but I've recognized that what is happening is that humanity is forced to confront the darkness of our world. What I did was disentangle the perception of my own darkness from that of the world's darkness. That didn't make it less painful, at first. I do feel it. Intense doom. I was going insane from it. Actually been going on for months, it's not recent. Almost a year by now.

I found some practices that helped me a lot to dial down the dread and find balance.

Trauma releasing exercises are the most important. They induce neurogenic tremoring in the body. That releases fear and anxiety and rumination and obsession, other than releasing the muscles. Look them up on YouTube (Dr berceli). Do them once every two days. Tremor for 10 minutes.

Then breathwork meditation with holds. Just follow some guided ones on YouTube, very very effective. They reset your mind out of fear states.

Then regular meditations as well.

Ground yourself in nature of you can.

These are in decreasing order of importance the things that will help you the most, especially the first two.

I could see the thunder flickering all over the wall. I didn't feel like they were threatening or anything, like I wasn't scared at all, but the storm was already brewing.
