Oh wait, while I was typing that it was covered for the 1000th time, never mind.

the only creepy thing i can think of is the charred body in half life 2 (and by extention gmod) using a real image of a guy who had his face blowtorched off.

The majority of Warframe's network data goes through a DoD server. (Check your own connection if you have the game installed)
If you dig deeper into the rabbit hole, you will find that the game is free to play and offered to players to study the response of killing and shooting weapons, it is literally a statistics sim.

could be. i didn't know the developer also made naughty games, but man it's got specifically taiwanese vibes, guess that's what stands out. it feels so strongly like it came from a specific region, culture, space in time. not some generic conveyor belt junk that could be crapped out anywhere. but something steeped in its origins.
and both avgn & octavius both felt compelled to make up "once upon a time" stories on the fly. hmmmm.

most short lil mobile games are akin to early arcade games, like pacman or qbert. and in 90s-early 2000s we get impressive stuff like carnevil and subnautica. in-depth stuff.
i'm way outside of video gaming loops these days and have little knowledge, but something tingling at the back of my mind says that famiclones are waiting to resurface, like a forgotten sea monster hiding under a lake. waiting to be forgotten so he can surprise everyone again.

oh yeah, i thought it was BULLSHIT that rpgmaker games were like 500mb, and the software itself was a godawful horrid NIGHTMARE to install and run. loved yume nikki, but 500mb with horrible atrocious software... when there was also znes, nes emulators, and very small files full of soulful content. zelda 3 was 3mb. pokemon was 1mb. there is no justification for a simple ass little rpg game to be even 20mb, let alone 500, for the amount of detail and content.

just watched the Octavius vid abt Taboo for NES. basically it's just celtic cross tarot marketed for slightly edgy parties during the satanic panic. usa release only, despite being a uk company.
i did ponder though, if someone who was really well versed in tarot, got an nes + taboo and saw how well it performed. game encourages you to mash the d-pad to aid in shuffling. my blind hunch is physical cards do a better job, but that's just an untested bias.

I truly don't know of any unexplainable scary things in games, but there's the occasional scary easter egg or scrapped content. The original game-over screen in Luigi's Mansion. The scary face hidden in that one Spongebob game. A hidden spider/headcrab creature in Poptropica. It's all wannabe creepypasta stuff though.

Theres currently something trending in Roblox called Cult of Spawnism.

Beliefs: Spawnists are described as believing in a "spawn god" and the concept of "respawning" after death, which they are led to believe will grant them a second life.

Manipulation and Harm: The movement utilizes manipulative tactics, encouraging followers to engage in harmful behaviors, including self-harm such as carving the Roblox spawn symbol into their skin, to "please" the spawn god.

got a friend who is extremely not into vidya or internet, and until recently took TV news at face value. but has lately become more based & redpilled, albeit not acknowledging recently before he was saying "blue pilled" stuff but then suddenly did a 180 on a few things.
told me that there was a vid that got on the news, where a dog got hit by a car. the 5yo girl whose family owned the dog cried and said "hit reverse daddy, hit undo". something like that.
also heard about tablet-addicted kids blindly assuming that respawning and save states were an irl thing.

however, several years back i had a dream myself where i was in some kind of military shooting game for real. it was 3D like irl (and a simulation too), but i was in a marine squad with fantasy armor and guns, breaking into a metal complex to shoot ayyliums. but we kept dying. every time we died, i felt it somehow. then would rewind, try again. die again. rewind, attempt.
it was such an odd feeling.

When playing Mario 3 on the NES. There were two unrelated changes that happened to the game once in a whuile.

There was an alternative level 1, with a extranpart that you would need a hammer to access (I swear I saw it a few times).
And sometime the control panel from below would change to a bunch of gears.
Never found anything about it on the internet.

The game Warframe is a DoD research project, the game connects to DoD servrers (check yours with wireshark), the game collects statistical analysis and subject response to guns, trance inducing music and flashing lights. It is a military project from the ground up, the enemies are dehumanized faceless beings that sound like demons (all), the player is encouraged repeatedly to depersonalize and "jump from one frame to another", the entirety of the game is a hypnotic trip and you should never ever play it.

1 There was a glitch/cheat in Mortal Kombat 2 on the arcades that lets you rape and behead Kitana as Jax, she turns briefly into Sonya and she cries blood from her eyes. It was only around for a few months until it was removed from the arcades. Anyone who lurked the arcade must have brushed against it on some point or another.
The other glitch was in a fatality that made scorpion crucify a Jesus like figure, these two were removed.

2. Also the maker of the game Drowned God game (which heavily includes kabbalah, fallen demons and gray aliens) was found dead right after release.

3. Mario 64 is basically freemasonry from start to finish

4. The bloodrayne glitch that made you fuck the nazi soldiers to death

Come on over to the Matilda thread. Youโ€™ll find something interesting from a GATE kid anon.

You could have had me, but for one itโ€™s Canadian, for two itโ€™s about Operators, and for three itโ€™s actually about the abuse of psionic kids and the long term implications of clandestine government experiments and how they hurt people so uh maybe it just lights up your temporal epilepsy. Itโ€™s also popular, and people in the DoD do play video games.

Yeah, we know exactly how they work, down to the last bit. There can't be much mystery there. It makes more sense when you're a kid and technology seems like magic. Some of the stuff around games, like sounds and textures, can be interesting of course, as can your own experiences. I have a weird memory about a video game from when I was a kid: I was living in a rural area with my dad (we didn't have indoor plumbing at our house to give you some idea of how rural it was). I was maybe nine years old at the time, so this would have been 1992 or so. I had a friend my age who told me he knew where we could play a video game, and he led me into the forest. There was no path to walk on, we were pushing our way through thickets and squeezing between trees growing close together. I thought for sure he was pulling my leg, so I was surprised when after maybe twenty minutes we hit a small clearing with a house. Inside was an old man. My friend asked if we could play his game, and he took us into a small white room with just a couple of chairs, a TV and a black console, perhaps an Atari. Then I and my friend just sat there for a while playing a side-scrolling shooter with a spaceship. I have no idea how the house even had electricity, this was way off the grid. Maybe the old man had a generator or something. Not really creepy, just sort of weird.
