Right now I'm torn between aliens being real and them merely being a material symbol of American capitalist culture

There's some pretty compelling evidence that humanity came from a planet that was destroyed that was located between mars and earth. Alternately from mars.
Hundreds of thousands or millions of years ago that orbit would have actually been superior for human life than todays earth.
Also given the age of our part of the universe its incredibly unlikely that we came from there originally either.
Earth is likely the 3rd of 4th stop for our particular branch of humanity.
