When you are actively plugged into that world, it becomes mundane in a fantastic way. Ghosts, imps, magic, etc are all the norm. There are a few places where this is still the case, but it is dwindling. People are overworked, they are taught bullshit from a young age, and the consumerism exported everywhere keeps their brains like jelly. The nihilist-hedonist lifestyle everyone's become accustomed to further degrades that muscle.
If you dont work the "muscles", you lose them. This was, at one point, a very normal aspect of human society. It now is not in the global north, the westernized world.
Your mind needs to be unified and still enough to process this, otherwise you simply do not see it. And the world has an economy built on maximizing your attention and scattering your mind. As well as a deliberately traumatizing culture.
People now, they dont see shit, except in very very few areas. They are literally too distracted and fucked up mentally to see the real world. They are trapped in a false one.
The only time now that most people in a place like america see actual phenomenon, is during the one brief, flitting moment, where their mind is calm and not distracted for once. They enter a "flow state" and experience something strange, then never again. The muscle spasms that once and then is lopped off by the culture.
