We're obviously creations. Did we create the machines or did the machines create us? Maybe we've existed for so long that we can't really remember which came first.

Think more allegorically. Jesus also said, "Let he who is without Sin cast the first stone". If you think about what the true nature of reality may be, with regards to simulation theory and Flat Earth, infinite energy, everyone does a little bit of evil. We're all dependent on an infinite energy source to stay alive.
Yet we almost all sleep every single day. Sleep is good. Most people sleep more comfortably in Darkness.
If we had full Disclosure there might be mass suicide, but without any Disclosure other than ancient religious text, we're much more angry than we would be without any Disclosure. The Bible teaches us to worship God and Jesus instead of asking questions about the nature of reality. Which is more evil, blind faith in the Creator, or blind faith in the Scientific Method?
Many of us feel that sleep is Good. Does that make us evil?
Be thankful for existence, be thankful for sleep, and be thankful for Death. If we had full Disclosure there would be mass suicide... But the people that don't commit suicide would still have reproductive urges, and the the people that reject Disclosure based on their rigid adherence to religious beliefs would also still be here, so you'd be left horny surrounded by religious nutters who you couldn't reach to operate existent technology, let alone create it. And the cycle would begin again.
