When did humanity start ignoring the spiritual side of things and start becoming purely materialistic? I wanna say around 150 years ago or so, what does /x/ think?

It all seems so planned and unnatural. I don't think it was because of modern tech, it's definitely something else making people into "muh science!" atheists. Probably brainwashing, but when did it start? You don't just go from recognizing paranormal activity to becoming numb to it overnight.

Its been a steady decline. You can see it. My grandparents and many grandparents and even parents were religious. Each generation, it gets less and less. If you pay attention, as hollywood progressed, there's been more and more attacks on such things, especially Christianity. It's intentional, a subtle brainwashing of the generations that's pretty obvious if you have the eyes to see it.

It ebbs and flows. We are currently only 5000 years into Kali Yuga. Hindu cosmology predicts that it will span 500k years before the next age cycles back. What is intriguing is how things shift in these ages. For example, we use silicon based technologies to make things work. But in another age, the shift of consciousness may be that where we can harness nature to get work done. That can lead to a lot of cause and effect where humanity, or whatever species takes its grasp on the current location we are in, give back more to nature than we do at this time.

It's a process. I'm guessing people misuse spirituality so often tptb decided to separate it and make it taboo from the public sphere. There was "The Enlightenment" period, which is mostly just a narrative for flattening out history. And then more recentlly the systematic destruction of animistic indigenous spirituality around the world e.g., the native americans, the Ainu in Japan, the Sami in Norway.
But spirituality is still going strong, perhaps growing, it's just separate from the mainstream media. Christians tell each other to avoid watching tv and consuming mainstream media. In reality there are different spiritual groups competing with each other, pulling the strings in governments, like Jesuits, Mormons, Jews of course, Catholics, Islam rising in immigrant settlements, there's a lot of new agey movements percolating too.
History has been rewritten, the spiritual side of historical figures is conveniently left out. Today's celebrities and public figures hide their spiritual practices and beliefs. People are not purely materialistic, it's just a narrative that gets inserted into every mainstream media production.

If I was an evil spiritual being, it would greatly behoove me that no one believe I existed. Then I could do whatever it is I desired, unimpeded.

Not that other cultures haven’t fallen into the same traps. China is dealing with it BAD right now.

Go listen to whichever indigenous nation lives closest to where you are. The reason so many people go crazy the moment they discovery something outside of the usual ontology they’ve been suckered with is that they are crashing into animism without a frame of reference, so they try to reference the BS they’re saturated with and, well, that’s it.

Everything points to the boomers, maybe not them specifically but that age group had something happen to them whether it was brainwashing or just flat out stupidity, the older generations are venomous on average.

Yeah I've been thinking about this a lot. No other generation in history is like them. So blatantly stubborn and easily brainwashed, while somewhat mentally stunted as well. Also incapable of comprehended deeper ideas and whatnot. Ruined things for future generations too, because of their pride and hubris. Maybe they're like an experiment by the elites or something.

Humanity became more skeptical and logical. There's no such thing as spirits, spiritual worlds, magic, God, demons, or Angels. There is no grand conspiracy in progression. To conflate them means willful ignorance but then again this is /x/ one of the few boards that harbor it.

2000 years ago when Abrahamic religion started to become popular, so people were told that real gods were demons and you had to ignore them or you go to hell forever.

Ritual and symbolism have been replaced with consumerism and individualism. It's easier to keep people at bay by keeping them stuck always purchasing things and building their material characters identity.

Religions need to update their symbolism to make the present material conditions. It's why entrenched religions like Christianity don't keep their appeal outside of people using it as a character identity and not diving deeper into the symbolism.

Yea, there's a lot going on behind the scenes. There's a ventured interest in many powerful and influential people to suppress the truth. You see, the issue isn't necessarily science and atheism and all that crap. The core of the issue is deception. What'll stop them from pushing some bullshit narrative about things just to ease the peoples minds?

The real problem is they don't want the truth to come out in the open. As long as that doesn't happen, they're fine. It's more complicated than you think.
