I feel like trying to give a one sentence summary is difficult when it comes to magical/esoteric concepts, and runs the risk of giving the neophyte a limited frame of interpretation. imo better to just carry on without any kind of fixed definition for a while, slowly building your own network of understanding. What terms like "white magic" or "black magic" mean for you might come to mean for you can be entirely different than what they mean for another magician, based on your own constitution and life experiences. And that's even if someone is working within a formal system with a fairly rigid order.
