The interstellar comet 3I/ATLAS will pass by the Earth in mid December, after temporarily disappearing behind the Sun in late October and November. It will not come close enough to pose any threat, passing at a distance of about 1.6 times the distance between Earth and the Sun, according to NASA. Before its solar conjunction, it will be visible through telescopes through September. It will reappear on the other side of the Sun in early December, according to NASA.

But the swarm of space rocks following behind this comet DOES pose a substantial threat of Earth impacts. The governments of the world have found out that one will hit the ocean, causing a 10+ earthquake!!!

I believe this 10000000000%. This is going to happen on top of the major earthquake which is ‘predicted’ to happen this year. Because of the truth of the OP, I know other people feel the truth of it to in your bones. Anyone?

No I dont feel a 10+ earth quake happening because it cant. Look up how it works. 10+ cant happen even a 9.6+ would be almost impossible to measure because it wouldnt be able to not interfere with every other sensor on the earth. Learn how the richter scale works, its meant to stop at 10. Nothing OP has except the unconfirmed and still quiet about why they think there is a ghost trail of smaller objects. Which would not introduce any larger earthquakes but rather a similar younger dryas situation. And there is not yet any indication of that and if there was we would already know now. and so would ametuer astronomers.

You should look up what richter scale means. It's unfair to advertise its scale without understanding it. 9.2 is 10x more powerful than 9.1 like the 2011 quake 9.4 is 10x more powerful than the 2004 quake .

This is more of a /sci/ question maybe but is it confirmed that they named it 3I/etc. after Rama’s numerical designation, 31/etc.?

they named it 3 I because its the 3rd interstellar object it had other names before it was confirmed as interstellar and atlus was because of the atlus observatories array that spooted it "first" although the ruben telescope has the first and most info providing images of it weeks before atlas discovered it

I had taken the claim of a 10+ M to be an exaggeration. If something were to strike earth, I could see it being spun as "the force of the strike is compared to the equivalent of a 10M+"
But currently I don't think there's any instrumentation that can measure beyond that. The force is, as mentioned, exponential.

I had some fun asking Grok just what it would take to change the course of 3i/ATLAS to collide with the earth. It spits out all sorts of math explaining the amount of thrust and time necessary. It can either slow down or steer into us. Steering takes less thrust than slowing.
