Hi all. Can you admit the truth that you are an ape? Most humans cannot. I find this fascinating, as it seems to be common to all human cultures, the refusal to admit one is just an ape. Sure, we may also be something more, but I have found we seldom are, especially when we refuse to acknowledge our animal nature. I wonder if the denizens of /x/ are also loathe to admit the truth...

My version of this is just that we as human beings have a word for "animal" and that is considered separate.

I think a lot of what the common person considers animal nature is a contrived and socially reinforced. As in, you would not be so animalistic if you were taught to behave differently. Human beings are biology, though animal is a separate thing.

The body I inhabit is descended from apes. But what am "I"?
Are you the body, or are you the mind?
I am a construct created by a brain, bootstrapped into existence using memories that this body has collected.
But "I" can only experience what the brain running my simulation feeds me. My perspective is only based on sensors that collect data about reality. I am not directly experiencing Reality (capital R - meaning "the REAL"), I am experiencing a simulated reality.

How do you know this is true?
When you see an object, you know it exists, but the "seeing of the object" is not the object. The image in your mind only exists for you, and it only attempts to model reality, it is a poor substitute for the Real.

all classifications made by humans are arbitrary and have nothing to do with base reality. "ape" is a word with an arbitrarily decided definition where a human chose to draw the boundaries between what is an ape and what is not an ape. it's an idea and it has no basis in material reality, which doesnt care what we think. "ape" could be reclassified at any time just by an arbitrary mass consensus to change the definition of the word. we can draw boundaries around reality however we see fit but those boundaries are invisible and imaginary and reality doesnt give a fuck about our boundaries.

furthermore you are operating under the presumption that humans evolved from apes but if you look up the oldest hominid fossils with at least 30% complete skeletons (aka not simply a jaw fragment or tooth that they CLAIM is a human ancestor) then you will see homo sapien fossils are older than hominid fossils. homo sapien = 700,000 years. chimp = 545,000 years. and that's if you believe the dating methods are accurate which they aren't because for example a man tested the accuracy by sending in objects he knew the dates of, a sea lion that died in the 1970s was dated to 800 years old and a pottery fragment known to be 1000 years old was dated to 20,000 years old, likewise every single object he had dated came back 20-50x older than he knew it really was.
