The "paranormal" community is almost entirely composed of those listed in the subject line. Ten years ago this board was bad, today it appears occupied by people who are simply playing.

I wonder if some kind of unifying principal for truth-seekers wouldn't help, but I know the unfortunate reality: it would be most efficient to sort people by socioeconomic status, as people who have mastered the basics of the world and are yet intrigued of its mysteries are simply more valuable than those who look to mysteries to explain their lot in life.

I don’t need to investigate the paranormal to fix my life. I do it because I want to. Because I believe that even if we accept a cold, rational, atheistic view of the universe, the absurd circumstances of our brief existence as conscious beings in this unfathomable void of time and space merits a search for hidden truths and higher meaning. And if there is none, then nothing was lost in the search for it, because nothing ever truly mattered to begin with, so we might as well do something enjoyably meaningless. Besides, I like it when things feel spooky. It makes being alone in the woods more interesting.

depends on what you mean by "the paranormal community" as up till the zoomers (who are exclusively controlled by the online) its main body moved through salons, circuses, and the artistic or intellectual community (1850-1950), magazines, conferences, and TV shows (1950-1995), and the internet (1995-2025), all these circles coexisting
it was absent from Asia, Africa, and the Caribbean who all had their own local scenes focusing on their own traditions and not really interested in a philosophical mindset that encompassed all of it, a specifically white phenomenon derived from Catholicism
in my opinion it's actually a miracle it lasted as long as it did, smartphones and all; in fact what I did notice was that with Trump's victory all the Liberals / Democrats started pushing occultism in their magazines and newspapers, making it mainstream (culminating with 10 year olds on witchtok cursing Trump etc.)
