Guts was a traitor, simple as. If he would have stayed I doubt the eclipse would have even happened. They’re probably just being contrarian edgelords for the meme. But the whole Guts vs Griffith thing does pose a real philosophical question. Guts might want to live his own life without struggling for power over others, but Griffith understands that in his world (and quite possibly ours) this is not a possibility. The idea of living in a cabin in the woods happily ever after is a lie. Power will always oppress those who lack it. Cry about how unfair and immoral it is if you want. It changes nothing. Power will come for your shack and burn it. But in pursuing power Griffith is also highly vulnerable to the idea of losing it. In that sense, it’s probably better to be Guts as shit as his life is because at least he finds some satisfaction in his endless struggle against a fate which the opening explicitly clarifies is predetermined and outside of his control.

It’s also interesting to ask where our concept of “good” comes from if the gods themselves are evil, but I won’t get into that.

How does berserk end? It would be cool to know.

How do you think? Do they forgive each other and defeat void? Does Griffith's kingdom comes?

Interestingly enough, this is what drove Miura insane for years. He had no way of helping Guts, and he really wanted to, but the nature of his writing style left the story progression mostly out of his hands. Best he could do was maybe give Guts a moment of peace every now and then, but he actually had very little control of how his own work unfolded, and it fucked with his psyche hardcore.

I wonder if Miura was channeling something rather than being the only one with control over the story. Like how Ryukishi07 wrote Higurashi.
But Ryukishi07 teaches through Higurashi that it's possible to break fate. His example was through the "will to fight".
From what I know based on researching Taoism the only way to change fate is to literally learn to use magic to create something from nothing. Which is an intuitive process completely separate from the plane of logic and reasoning.
