Again a "Walk-in" is when you lost your soul and retrieve it somehow.
Your body is never just an "empty vessel" that another soul can "walk into".

Its pretty easy to lose your soul, a lot easier than people think. All you have to do is take some hallucinogenics or meditate near a large body of water.

When your soul is lost it doesn't stop learning, so when you get it back it feels like you just had some monumental teacher walk into your life.
And yeah, /x/ is definitely a place with a lot of "walk-ins" in the sense that I'm defining them.
If anything we should have /Soul Retrieval General/ threads, but active soul retrieval is a pretty advanced technique.

If people became "empty vessels" the way OP says, you'd see a whope lot of very real external demonic posessions.

a walk-in happens when something traumatic happens or you come close to death or get injured really bad and your original soul leaves your body and a new soul from the other side steps in and instead of you dying takes over your body and keeps going. We give ourselves exit points for ourselves when planning our lives before coming in. That suicide attempt might've been one of your exit points, you just didn't take it. That time you got shot, smacked by a car, overdosed. Those are exit points where you could've died but your higher self, on a soul level chose to keep going. I understand the idea behind it but imo it conflicts with Christian theology. Matter and our material body is not evil but we are in a fallen state. Our body is as integral to us as our soul and spirit. This is why somehow this great mystery unfolds where we die and eventually are resurrected and somehow our material body long decayed will be the seed for our resurrected body.

This is why I think reincarnation is fundamentally flawed as we could never have any other body but the one we were given. To be enrobed in another body would be to become an alien being not yourself. Does this make sense?
