Mantras and the Power of Sound
I am legitimately starting to wonder if part of the reason certain Hindu Gods are so much more popular than others is because they have a short, simple mantra to recite.
I really like using mantras, but just compare Shiva:
>Aum Namah Shivaya
or Vishnu:
>Hare Krishna Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna Hare Hare;
>Hare Rama Hare Rama, Rama Rama Hare Hare
To Surya (God of the Sun):
>Namah Suryaya Shantaya Sarvaroga Nivaarine, Ayurarogya Maisvairyam Dehi Devah Jagatpate
Anyone know what the deal with this is?
I like that many Buddhist mantras are short and simple, such as:
>Aum Mani Padme Hung
