If you trace patterns using salt it cannot be processed store-bought salt it must be ground from a salt crystal that formed in the Earth, naturally ground for immediate use by your own hand. It cannot touch iron so only grind by hand in a pestle and mortar, preferably wooden or ceramic from clay without ANY iron content.

Herbs used should be cut without using iron tools, like scissors, and should be cut with a knife such as one with a glass blade made from a broken bottle or a flint knife. Most store-bought blades contain iron or were made using iron tools at the factory.
Herbs should be hung upside down and dried in the air so their juices dry inside the leaves, stems, etc, without dripping out.
