What's the thing with tarot?
By the latest years everyone just seems to be a tarot reader: Online readers, dumbasses that say they can read tarot, etc. Is tarot really just a scam that people like this can apply, or is there an actual way to read tarot (or maybe tarot actually is that goddam easy). Maybe there's also similar things that work better than tarot.

Sorry if my question seems ignorant, I'm just genuinely curious about this.

Long time ago I was very much into the occult bullshit, including the tarot.
There is an over 9000 ways to read those cards. And in my opinion none of them are the only true way. The tarot is just another glorified way to do fortune telling. And the fortune telling itself is all about asking questions and receiving answers through some sort of a medium. The medium can be almost anything - the pattern at the bottom at the bottom of the coffee cup, animal guts, cards, whatever. Just something that can be meaningfully interpreted. And if you are to believe in fortune telling, then it is obvious that there has to be some kind of force that answers your questions. Some force that will bend probabilities and reality locally, so you get precisely the results it wants you to see.
Those cards are just very handy tool when it comes to ease of interpretation. Especially compared to the aforementioned animal guts or coffee or something like that.
So IMO any kind of fortune telling, including tarot, is more about whether you have attracted attention of such a force or not, rather than the details of how you do it.
And being noticed by something like this is not necessarily good for you. That force can be benevolent. But it can also be extremely malicious and fuck you over hard. In my experience it is more often the later. Knowledge is usually not given for free. And that applies to everything else - anything given to you will be collected later with interest.
Sorry for shit english.

I think there is actually something the cards and and the concept itself is tapping into. I don't think the user of the cards is relevant in the process at all. Anyone can tap into it using the cards, or the idea of the cards, even an AI can do it. For me, Tarot cards have proven to be frighteningly accurate very often.

It's a form of divination. Tarot is just the deck everyone uses. You could use a deck of regular playing cards or even make your own cards. When I was in jail I was reading peoples fortunes with a regular deck of playing cards. I have a divination book that teaches you what all the cards mean but you could even make your own deck which is what most good Tarot readers do.

It's less about reading tarot and more about understand the symbolism of the cards.

just how most doctors are incompetent and negligent, most practitioners of divination are also incompetent and negligent, with the added bonus of there being no certification body for diviners.

Thank God the I Ching hasn't been picked up by Hipsters yet. Probably because it actually works things that work never seem to be the things that get popular
