From a strictly mundane perspective - out of all the popular forms of exercise, it's arguably the one that leads to the most *internal* sense of wellbeing. Lifting might get you jacked but it can lead to stiffness & injury. Running improves your cardio & gives you endorphines, but it also tires you out & fucks your joints up. Sports have great social capital but can give you head trauma. Meanwhile yoga might not radically alter your appearance but it slowly dissolves all your aches and pains, giving you a sense of youthful energy throughout life. Also the classes are full of hot girls

On a slightly more abstract level I think it appeals to people because it's a means of (somewhat) getting into the meditative headspace without having to sit still for extended periods.

NW Europeans and Slavs have high western steppe herder ancestry which invariably leads to genetic issues in a civilizational context. We should be living more physically mobile lives where the muscle, bones, etc but especially the fascia is constantly being stretched, stimulated and used. This cultural need is likely what created yoga in the first place as western steppe herders became settled into India after mass-raping them.
