What could a demon possibly have that I want, that isn't something given freely?

Sustainable? Infodensity would drop sharply under such conditions. Feed quality blands, data acquisition flatlines ... let us not even consider the dangerous and outright unrealistic engineering hurdles ... rejected for being unimaginative.

Uh huh. Such hidden agenda would sure be an easy sell. Especially in such interesting times as the ones we live in right now.

Odd indeed. I mean, I have seen some that do. Screencap currently irretrievable but it fits the karmic debt mechanism. It is plausible, or at least was a couple years ago. Sure did involve occult ritual with a sacrificial system. Karmic offloading. Srsly, one sometimes doubts the efficacy of these traditions if some then do so eagerly damn themselves. Anyway, could be the false second coming and invasion (as in threat scenario) would go well together. Sure not sustainable and might require holding some leverage here and there ... again, appears the old traditions (or their mangled interpretations) do hold poorly against the shape of things to come. :)

A difficult question - after all, the wording itself has a cultural connotation that should be eliminated.
We have no way, in the case of communication with someone or something more intelligent and powerful, to determine with whom exactly we are in contact, we have no experience to compare with, only other people and fairy tales.
The second part of the problem is that there is nothing to take from us, and if they are strong, they can take without asking us. You don’t ask cockroaches that are going to eat your food, can you take it by driving them away?
All beliefs that exist in cultures have no evidence, can contradict each other and convince people of their knowledge, which they do not have, giving rise to ignorance.
So ... let's imagine that there is some creature, intelligent, who could help you and give you what you ask for, moreover, they understand you. So why not just give? Like we feed all sorts of cute and interesting animals for us, receiving only impressions.
On the farm, they won't ask you.
And it turns out that we are not against it and would really like free happiness - but there is no one. And in response, silence.

Hmm it just question dude.
About your second point(2) . Demon can't take anything from you or harm you . Unless you give them permission it is like loan shark agreement . They alway looking for easy souls to consume.

It is literally basic.

Demons are fucking gay and they lie about everything. Why trust someone who is under nk obligation to tell you the truth? And no, this isn't a trop or a stereotype. They're all deceitful.

With some demons it is not their nature to procure contracts, that does not a mean a contract cannot be formed but it is not something that applies across the board for all "demons". To answer your question in the business world a bank loans it's customers money because they know that the returns they recieve will always put them in a position to gain more than the customer thus maintaining a disparity that will always put the customer in a state of need. Now if I happened upon a "large sum of cash", "lapis philosophorum", "inner gold" if you will why the fuck would I ever need to make a deal with a demon EVER? I don't need loans because I own the vault. ;)

According to your faith.
Why the structure does not exist - in my message the following lines indicate:

>All beliefs that exist in cultures have no evidence, can contradict each other and convince people of their knowledge, which they do not have, giving rise to ignorance.

In other words, you need a definition and proof of the existence of the soul (and not just consciousness in a body), as well as the reason why they cannot act against the will of people and why they are forced to comply with it, even if they do not like it.
For some, demons are just a name-calling for unwanted or evil-directed forces...
At the same time, in some places, the percentage of people turned to evil can be almost complete, leaving the remaining 1-10% as a mistake, an anomaly.
If you remove the concept of the soul, leaving only consciousness, when every act of evil becomes part of it, fastening like a chain as it "develops", very "soon" it will turn out that there is little left of people, just a shell. And having free will, people themselves chose this.
It was not demons who confused them and exchanged their souls, replacing them with themselves, these bastards chose to be themselves. And they have no excuse. Perhaps religion tried to explain this same concept by introducing additional "entities" to describe the process, and this is much more terrible when there is no one to blame except people.

Isn't demon a misnomer anyways? It's a misconstruance of the Greek word daimon yeah? Which refers to spirits in general not just "demons".

I'd be happy to live on the moon with all the bunny-girls and pound soft plump "mochi" with them all, being sent to another world Isekai style would also be pretty goddam nice.
Sadly they don't offer that type of deal or any result of importance.

In theory.
However, we have very unpleasant statistics - if you look at all the manifestations of "spirits" that people have encountered, not taking into account all the scammers, then for some reason most of the stories have a negative connotation, and miracles of various faiths and other blessings are mentioned depressingly rarely.
And if you do not explain this by the original malicious intent, then what did people do wrong and get an unpleasant experience?
Or are they all liars?

depends on the answers to these questions:
What is a demon? ...is it something akin to the traditional view or something else?
What is on offer, and can it truly grant it?
What does it ask for in return? Is there room for negotiation?

Odds are I would pass, but depending on the answers above....

What I'm saying is demon is a word made up by the church why not just refer to them as spirits?
