I love Guadalupana like you wouldn't believe
In my opinion, the most verifiable proof of anything divine/paranormal/supernatural ever. How can you possibly know about the tilma and not believe?

god sure has a weird way of proving his existence

Weird indeed. If nothing else convinces you, and you want to be convinced, just look into this story.

This comes from the fact that the image of the tilma communicates through symbolism that the pagan believers in that time would understand. things like the position of the hands meant something in their prior religion. The fact that it all lines up freaked out the elder pagans and convinced them to convert, because it was just way too accurate of a communication.

While definitely supernatural, It does not mean it was done by God or Mary, or that God is the good guy in all of this.

If you were a real Christian, the foremost proof of Christianity to you would have been the historical evidence of Jesus's existence, the miracles He performed, and how His life was the fulfillment of many prophecies written hundreds of years prior to His birth. The Lord God is the only one you should be praying to.

This is because the image was worshiped as a Mesoamerican deity by indigenous groups around the time the Lady of Guadalupe came up. Supposedly this was Tonacacihuatl, an Aztec goddess of fertility referred to as a "heavenly lady."

The Catholic organization also practiced, and still does practice, a lot of syncretism. Just food for thought.

Catholics really love their images prohibited by the Bible; anyone who thinks that all these 'properties' are real is full of copium.

At lot of that becomes less impressive when you learn that the catholic church doesn't let independent observers actually test the thing. As usually happens with these miraclous objects.
Plus, the history around it's origin is very suspicious. The Virgin Mary appearing in front of a Bishop without him writing about it? She commands people (Including a bishop) build her a cathedral but a century passes without anyone even building a church in the area?
Credit where credit is due though. The churches in Tepeyac are beautiful.

Why are you trying to racialize this. It's literally a brown virgin.
>>40965569
It does, I'm open to the idea that Tepeyac was a pilgrimage site of some sort for the Indians, and that the Marian Apparition was fabricated in the 17th century to christianize it.
However, I don't think there's conclusive evidence either way.

Thank you for your opinion, Satan.

Ultimately though, I think the Virgin of Guadalupe is a throughly catholic phenomenon with many similarities to apparitions in the mediterranean are, rather than an autochtonous thing as many try to ignorantly claim.

Idk. It kind of contradicts Christianity a bit. Shouldn't we be glorifying Jesus instead of Mary? But what do I know...I'm just some brown guy living in socal after all.

It was a Catholic play to incorporate/conquer Native Americans from the area that refused to leave paganism. There are some similarities to various different mother deities. Far as I can tell, she's based on Coatlicue.

It's not an ordinary painting because it's not a painting. It's a textile garb. My old football shirt with a "painting" on it has been washed several times and has no damage because it's no ordinary painting.

Important historic artifacts are usually protected. That goes double for when it's a propaganda asset of the Church.

I don't see it's at all possible for it to be 37C unless the ambient temp is 37C: Easily disproven, but I see no evidence. As for the 4 petals, that's part of the propaganda. In Nahua culture the number 4 is significant and represents stability, structure, the medicine wheel, etc.

It was not unheard of for priests to conflate Christian figures with the Meso-American Gods or even some real people that might've existed.
The most prominent example of this is obviously Quetzalcoatl/Kukulkan/etc. Who was variously framed a Jesus, Saint Thomas, Saint Brendan, etc. This was also used to explain the surface level similarities of Meso-American religions to Christianity.
This same process was also applied in the Andes and else where in the Americas. Particulafrly by Jesuits, but also by other religious orders willing to bend orthodoxy a little to save souls.
P.S: I love Mossa.
But he is a fag for locking his account before I could refollow.
Why would you deny me my kino you gooner-gook.

It's an interesting piece but you hyping it up as "the most verifiable proof of anything divine/paranormal/supernatural ever" reeks of dishonesty.
>How can you possibly know about the tilma and not believe?
I don't mind believers on /x/, but acting like something like this is anything so special one has to believe and using such subterfuge in an attempt to convert people is off-putting.
