Hell is also entirely avoidable but the existence of that was technically debatable. I’m not sure what I am to do from now on. If I am supposed to accept the non existence of God or what. Clearly something exists since entities have visited me. If this is God’s plan, it is a lousy one, one that actively tries to disprove his existence. But if God exists despite his non interference with various genocides, either he has something in store for us much better than this, or he hates us and will torment or annihilate most of us. And there is no amount of worship I can do to change the meaning of life from “god hates us” to “god loves us,” to save the billions already in torment, or to stop a genocide. The matter has been prayed over for thousands of years before I was born, and I would be a fool to think it wouldn’t have already been decided. Christianity is so deeply and disturbingly morally corrupt. I physically can’t even bring myself to worship this God anymore. What do you think of your spirituality and how did you come to the conclusions of what you believe? Perhaps I could look into it. The notion of an all powerful all loving deity is something I think I have to put to rest, because it simply isn’t real. And if it is real, then it doesn’t matter that I don’t believe in it, because it will love me anyway.

I think that the killing of pagans, sorcerers, witches, heretics, apostates from the church is a veiled sacrifice and Jesus did not care about it. It would be unjust for the highest deity to stop only some bad deeds if that ideal deity is capable of stopping all bad deeds; because the logic of justice requires that the law be equally applied to all. But if the absolute were to intervene and stop all bad deeds, the universe would effectively be over, and all beings inside the universe would lose their opportunity to exist and to grow and develop towards perfection.

I considered this as well. The death of these ones seems like a massive sacrifice, and God doesn't need humans to do that since He can do it Himself. I personally believe the biblical account of the Israelites is a case of God making an example of and exterminating those who are abominations to Him. Your logic doesn't even make sense because none of those other lifeforms were designed/created to be super intelligent, self aware, and even comprehend the concept of God. A good bit of the point behind Jesus’s (a physical incarnation of God) senseless suffering was to acknowledge and share in the suffering of man.

A good way to think about this is that God wants us to choose them willingly. Well, if God was always floating around our shoulder and magically poofing everything around us to be amazing like a benevolent genie - then of course the choice would be easy.

Notice that with the slightest hardship you immediately blame, then scorn, then deny God? Its like saying you love your wife but then leaving her or cheating on her the moment she gets sick or doesnt have sex with her. Did you really love her? Or just what she could do for you?

Its also important to note the system and free will principles involved. Terrible things like genocide happen because of US - not God. And sure, God could intervene, but then its just God micromanaging us. Again easy to choose and no real free will if there are no consequences.

Not to mention struggle and strife helps us grow. You also discount the ability of God to make it all okay in the end. We are like children who are terribly upset that we dropped our ice cream - looking back as adults its really very silly. God can, and does upon our passing, wash all our pain away just like time does for things that upset us as children.

Consider this as well, prior to Christs triumphant descent into Hell following his death - many souls were considered lost. Even many that were “good” people. But also those who were “bad”. Judas committed suicide and died before Christ. Meaning he was in Hell for the Harrowing. And thus, was saved.

Gods plan, therefore, involved periods of suffering, knowing full well that not only would they be saved, but that the pain would be washed away.

And yes, its confusing. God knows this. To paraphrase the Lord “its gonna be like that sometimes”. Not understanding is part of it, as is making mistakes. Even Gods apparent absence is part of it.
