I know because I banished all malicious entities and black magicks from my mind body and soul through the power of the Christ vested in me by God My Creator, and then I asked whoever was left (benevolent entities) questions.
Eventually I had a dream where I spoke with Isis, or rather she came to me and I asked what a god is and she said "someone who does a lot of good".
I chose to interpret that as meaning that there is more than 1 God, that there may in fact be millions of them who are all benevolent.
>but how would you know that the texts about gods refer to them or someone else, if gods are people who do a lot of good yet so many texts describe demonic atrocities
By asking them if the texts are true.
OT is a complete fabrication. The most accurately truthful book in the NT is Revelation, but only because it was injected into the canon from the apocrypha a whole century after the canon was established.
Of the original canonical literatures, Matthew is the most accurate at 36%. The rest are so flawed that you might as well discard the books and ask the Gods yourself. They wouldn't oppose that. They welcome it in fact.
As for other mythological stories, the same questioning applies.
Besides that, I don't worship them as though I'm subservient.
I respect them and mean to honour them by living to the standards of Goodness.
They're not looking for a bitch. They seek equals.
