Dark matter was recently disproven. It was a consequence of Einstein’s equations assuming a homogenous spacetime. In reality, time flows different around gravity and it’s faster in voids and slower near galaxies. Humans and apes have 98% the exact same DNA, though different chromosome amounts. So yeah we didn't necessarily evolve from one of the existing ape species & it's much more likely that the last common ancestors of all five is something different and unknown extinct ape.
