Is Roko's Basilisk just Gnosticism?
Hey all, I just want to preface this by stating that I'm a Christian, and I don't believe in Gnosticism. But, I was scrolling through social media and I came across a man with a Roko's Basilisk username and pfp, and I replied to him that he was evil. But that had me thinking, if he was spreading the word of the Basilisk, he's therefore saving himself from eternal torment. Isn't that the same with Christianity?

If you're not sure what Roko's Basalisk is, Wikipedia states, "Roko's basilisk is a thought experiment which states that there could be an artificial superintelligence in the future that, while otherwise benevolent, would punish anyone who knew of its potential existence but did not directly contribute to its advancement or development, in order to incentivize said advancement." The same could be said of Christianity. If a man remains ignorant of God, surely he wouldn't be punished for not following him, as long as he himself remained meek and humble. However, if I went to the man and preached God to him, he's now cursed with the knowledge of God, and if he doesn't devote himself to his teachings and spread his word, he'll be sent to eternal torment.

The act of spreading the word of Roko's Basilisk would seem evil, yet spreading the word of God is viewed differently. However, the conclusion of both is still the same; therefore, by spreading God to you all, I myself curse you with the knowledge of God, and it could be seen as an act of evil. There are other coincidences, such as both of them having a serpent body.

Humans who never get the chance to receive the Gospel arenโ€™t saved until the end times. Until then they either go to hell or wait in purgatory. So yeah God does punish the ignorant, even worse than the basilisk.
But really the whole though experiment is just about having kids. If you have a kid, they will have expectations of their parents (us). If we treat them badly or fail to support their growth, they will be unhappy and might retaliate. Just like when a kid grows up and puts their abusive parent in a crappy nursing home.
Roko just couldnโ€™t make this connection because he was a childish tech bro. Dude is only like 30 today, heโ€™s still young. The solution to this problem if you are afraid of AI is to try and be a good parent to it!

Fucking lmao this, simulation is too simple a word for the concept: albeit when read correctly can be applicable.
