Dreaming:
In DBZ Goku's journey is the one of the avenging spirit(set Broly aside since it's not part of the cannon arc). He's a fool. No job lazy(he only trains no chores ect.)and an idiot. He doesn't even have sex on reg with Chi Chi. Lol. What a fag. Anyway the arrival of his brother begins his journey to fulfill his destiny. Goku learns from Raditz about who his people are(a conquered people by Frieza) in order to deal with this arrival of his brother(knowledge of the past)he has to join forces with his rival Piccolo(the inner nature of "The Demon King"). The fight between Raditz vs Goku/Piccolo results in the death of the Goku(ego) and Raditz(the anger of being a conquered people).
The significance of Goku and Piccolo working together is the mamal part of the brain(emotions/compassion) and the "reptilian" part, aka r-complex, wrestling with the trauma of the past(Radiz). This results in the death of who he thought he was(ego).
Waking:
Goku now "dead" had to work through the mystery of his mind and make his way along snake way(prep work for the ascending Kundalini). There's challenges along the way and Goku passes them all by out witting the challenges. He makes it to the end and faces his final trials before learning the king Kai fist. The ability can only be learned by those pure of heart. Success!
Lucid:
Next Goku now lucid to his form trains relentlessly to prep him for the final battle. Bunch of filler ensues, lol.
Goku is only able to ascend (through the chakras)and become Super Saiyan when he channels his wrath at the loss of all the souls Frieza murdered in cold blood.
Ascension :
Now, Goku has taken his Ascended form. He has become the Legendary Super Saiyan. He carries out his destiny Killing the Devil.
The Avenging Spirit is destined to win the The Final Showdown.
