As a kid I always had this interest in monsters and the spooky. For better or for worse the people that I've met with the same interests were people who had some sort of trauma and unhealthy outlook in life (as I did, later on)

I want to become a better person but I also think this is a part of me that I need to accept

When I was a kid I could see people with black demon eyes outside at the streets. The adults though I'm crazy and sent me to a psychiatric hospital. I was locked there for months and stopped to tell people what I see. Made me distrustful to society and the world.

Personally i don't see the wrong in liking darker themes.
Horror films, spooky content, scary. monsters.(love me some sick monster designs)
If you are decent human and productive member of society is there really a need to make yourself "better" in this aspect ? I like these things too in my case i don't believe it come from any trauma.

Darker thins are another flavour in life we can enjoy as long as we don't hurt other intentionally.
That will open you to be destroyed.

give it another decade or two and some of those people have worked themselves out and aren't so fucked to be around anymore, i'm guessing you're only like 20 or so for now, everyone's pretty fucked in their 20s anyway.
