One time I was vacationing with my uncle down at lake Toledo bend in Texas. That year there was a big drought so the lakebed was dry for huge areas. I walked way out there one day and found this tiny pond of water. I decided to drop a line in to see what would have been trapped in there and caught this really weird looking catfish. Uncle had never seen one before in living there 20+ years and fishing on the lake basically every day. Wasn't huge or anything, pretty average size 15 inch fish or so. Just super interesting colors and the mouth shape was sort of unusual.

Only one and I don't know what it was.

It was on a beach in the south of Brazil in the 90's.

It's late night, me and a couple of cousins are going back home. The streets are pretty dark and quiet, we are the only ones there other than the single car passing by every few minutes.

We reach a point closer to home where there is an empty lot between two houses. It's just grass with fences on 4 sides and more empty lots behind it.

The fence is one of those with uneven wood and barbed wire like picrel.

So when we are passing this lot in the furthest fence on top of one of the wooden stumps I see a sillouete. It was too dark to make up what it was. I thought it was a large owl, it kinda looked like one except instead of feathers it had hair. It was either that or a woman's disembodied head.

I point it to my cousins and we stay about 10 or 20 seconds trying to make up what it was, while the wind blew that hair. At certain point we realize whatever we are seeing is not normal so we just bolted. Didn't stop until we reached home.

Now everytime I pass by that empty lot I can't help but stare at it, and where that thing was.

I was camping in Montana and I was in my tent about to sleep and I smelled the worst smell in my life, it was death and stink all over. It overwhelmed me. It suffocated me. I got up immediately, grabbed my lantern, and got the fuck out of there right away. I got to my car close by and drove the fuck off. Didn't pack, came back the next day and packed up my stuff. I had a sense of fear I've never felt before, certain I would be dead if I stayed in that tent. If I didn't follow my gut I would be dead right now, I fully believe that. I don't know what it was, and I didn't see anything, I purposely didn't look. But I knew it saw me, and I knew it was following me, even when I was driving. Don't fuck around out there alone. Stay with a pack of Humans, as a pack we are stronger and less likely to be picked off.

$10 says that Bear Lake Monster was someone's pet alligator that they released after it got too big.

Driving Texas roads out in the middle of no where. no a single car on the road but me bight day flat lands. out in the distant see the stick people walking about. must have been at least 40 ft tall. then they stopped walkin stood still and their single tall line disappeared. the heads were not round but also long sticks. looked like 3 of them.

i saw a yellow sun like orb quickly shoot into the sky once when i was rly depressed and got super into ufos. followed by 2 fighter jets, that was daily training path for the jets, tho.

I didn't see anything, but I learned not to whistle in the woods, even near development, because whatever the fuck is out there will whistle back at you, from multiple directions, at a time when it fucks with you the most.

What are cryptids? I doubt the explanations which state they're just undiscovered/prehistoric species, but I struggle to think of what they could be instead. Demons? Psychological archetypes entering perception? Some other entity?
