The solar barque of Re/Ra, egyptian sun god
Ra on the solar barque is an image of the sun passing through the celestial vault before entering the "underworld" at sunset (in the geocentrical conception of Earth). When Ra enters the underworld he embarks on another barque where he must face the forces of darkness and its most powerful member, the snake Apophis, who attacks Ra's boat on a daily basis, but is defeated everytime. Thus, each sunrise represents Ra's victory over Apophis, the great serpent.
Now, it's just my guess but it really sounds like christian symbolism, Ra and Apophis being most likely another avatars of Jesus (aka Sol Invictus, the undefeated sun) depicted standing on the boat and Satan/Lucifer etc.
Now this barque has the head of Anubis (dog-headed god) on its bow, which is a funerary god and often depicted as the guide to the underwold. Don't know what meaning this exact image is supposed to convey tho
