I will add evolution takes millions of years on average, especially for a K select species.
Modern humans emerged around 300,000 years ago; and the majority of that time was spent fucking around with rocks and sticks.
All the sudden, 10,000 years ago, civilization. All of the sudden, 265 years ago, the industrial age. All of the sudden, 135 years ago, electronics. All of the sudden, 69 years ago, AI.
Your great great grandmother were she alive today wouldn't know what the fuck a chatgpt is, and it would be witchcraft to her. In all those 300,000 years of modernity it is unheard of.
We are the only creatures native to Earth with this exponential evolution, everything else in this shithole is hundreds of millions of years behind us.
We're also the only creatures that we know of with religion, specifically worshiping people in the sky, that of which started simultaneously around the globe at the same time.
And the fucking thing that baffles me the most, is that we are still 99.9% genetically similar to our ancient ancestors. There is basically nothing separating an Italian from a Pompeiian, and were they sent through time to be switched at birth, the Italian would behave as a Pompeiian and the Pompeiian would behave as a modern Italian.
We haven't been evolving very fast, yet we've come this far.
