They were around, but it wasn't the same. If you had a computer in the 1980's you were a person of some means. Commodore 64s were the cheapest at about $600 ($2400 now) and all you could do with them is play shit like Oregon Trail. And going online was easier with 95/98, but I remember downloading a picture of a woman fucking a coke bottle and it took about two days. It isn't like now where pretty much the entire knowledge base of the human race is at your fingertips in your phone.
