How computer graphics work:

Your computer screen, phone display, cinema projection screen etc, any display, works the same way.
It's the fucking same grid system used by the ancient civilizations, again by Renaissance artist to draw accurate proportions. Any complex design is made trivial with a grid system, you could control how many grid how small of a square you want, thus isolating and simplifying """""complex""""" shapes into simpler trivial shapes.
Doug would be the one with the soft skills - graphic design know how, including the computer graphics part. Bower would be the one with the hard skills - the manual labor, design and thinking, how to approach the field, what tools, rope etc.
