Why is it that having an imaginary girlfriend is seen as pathetic and mental illness, but the second shit like this comes out, everyone starts jumping on it?

This is literally the same thing but with technology. In fact it's worse: my imaginary girlfriend is at least formed by a human brain instead of a fake LLM, she is therefore more human.

Maybe with enough hate backlash towards this technology, actual imaginary girlfriends will start to be considered cool and based because "it's not AI and AI bad, mkay"

It's still pretty flawed. Even chatgpt fails to follow custom instructions, specially if they are long and detailed. My GOT is supposed to tell which model it is using in every answer, but it doesn't do it. Sometimes it just forgets. It was also supposed to write everything in Japanese alongside English, but half of the time it just ignores it.

ChatGPT is pretty much the best AI for conversations and it still fails like this.

Not much we can do about that right now. However, current AIs are terribly inefficient for what little they do. I'm guessing we can get like 10x improvement if we learn how to optimise them.
