Is practicing pagan rituals heretic if you're a christian?

Is Christianity heretic for inserting itself into those customs? Easter bunny was obviously a trick ancient hunter gatherers used to make their children find real eggs why does it need dessert jew lore?

Heresy is the pertinacious denial of one or more dogmas of the Christian faith. Pagan rituals may be idolatrous or superstitious, but they would not fit the definition of heresy. There are also many traditions called pagan today that were never subject to any kind of ecclesiastical censure.

There is something about practicing pagan rituals in private not being a problem. Depends a lot and I can't explain it properly but publicity is very relevant. The idea is that if you are being a bad example for others it heretic if there are no others around you are not being an example for anyone so it's neutral, unless it's something of a deadly sin because it's mostly centred on the self and has those deadly loopholes into the abyss.

Scandal is a major consideration, but as for the ceremony itself, if it is superstitious or idolatrous then it is sinful whether it happens in private or not. But church judgments can and do waver about these things. Confucianism was officially approved, then condemned, then approved again by the Catholic Church, for just one example. The important questions are perhaps not obvious. If there is a weird looking statue, that doesn't necessarily matter, but the manifest intent of the practitioner very much does. So if they are implying any way that the spirit being honored is pleased by sinful acts, or is a mere creature but supposed to bestow a blessed eternity, then the practice is highly likely to be condemned. But things like making offerings to the Fae or the ancestors for the sake of a good harvest are not.

First, I'm a Neo-Pagan, so you can discount my opinions in advance if you like. Xtianity has its own magical ritual traditions! But Right Christcuckery (Evangelicals and Fundies), doesn't accept them, as they want you to depend on them because they want you to be helpless without their hierarchy. That's one of the reasons I left. (Esoteric) Xtian magic ranges from the Golden Dawn and High Magic to Gnosticism (The kingdom is within you, not outside, it is Now, not in the Great By-and-By.). Xtian rituals are often more complicated and restrictive than in other religions, and you have to put up with their medieval Grimoire's Unobtaniums (mermaid scales, dragon's teeth, etc.). It's code for something else! You pretty much have to keep your mouth firmly shut and do your Thing, as Right Xtian criticism can be harsh and severe. Your church won't understand it.

Evangelical and fundamentalist Christianity are militantly anti-hierarchy. But the more stratified forms of Christianity (Orthodoxy, Catholicism, Anglicanism) give far more leeway as far as popular ritual forms go. GD &c is some fake shit cobbled together from PGM, but curanderismo for example is very real, very Christian, and very "ungoverned."
