that's a pretty solid point. i think my philosophy differs somewhat from that of spiritualists who draw a stark line between good and evil:

looking at the nature of the material universe, devoid of human interaction, shows us that it is cold, uncaring, chaotic and cruel. the things animals have to do every single day just to survive in the wild, the constant recycling of matter, the dead feeding the living, its all fairly detached from human morality. this leads me to believe there are at least two possibilities; that the godhead, or whatever lesser aspects are actually in charge, is if not evil then at the very least indifferent to things like suffering

when people ask, "if god is good, why is there evil?" i often times think the answer really is that god isn't good, he's neutral, embodying both the brightest virtues and the darkest malevolence. any spirit that is asking you to take a side, therefore, is likely a lesser aspect, one with a particular alignment

that said this is all mostly theorizing on my part
