i didn't listen to his antichrist lecture, but he made a similar statement about "Greta Thunberg being antichrist-like" in some other interview, and basically he says that if there was a real antichrist then this person would have to incorporate the very real fear of "the technological wizard" that people from 17th century on had in regards to an antichrist. An avenue i find more interesting to focus on is a comment he made in this interview about how as far back as the Old Testament, there was this idea running throughout (even if not explicitly stated as such) that "Nature" was viewed as a "fallen" state. And this is definitely true, and not even just in the Bible, but throughout many non-abrahamic philosophies (but especially in the judeo-christian ethos) you find this dichotomy between fallen Nature and God-gifted Civilization (with all that this would entail, to include technology).

There needs to be a serious discussion in the religious community about what their goal even is. Is it to align with "fallen Nature", which is basically anti-technological, third worldish and hedonistic, or is it to adhere even more to Civilization, and thus technology?

Thiel's main goal seems to be to end the stagnation that society and gov't is in, whereas liberals and the Greta Thunberg types don't seem to see turning the entire world into a third-world melting pot as any sort of problem.
