To dominate others and the world is a valid aspiration, I'm inclined to agree. But why make your bed in a house of misery? Our true home isn't here, it's in the Infinite, beyond the world and its forms, and beyond the person who interacts with it. I repeat, our true home is in the Infinite, where there is bliss and happiness forever. You will find nothing here in this desert besides conflict and labor; after you achieve your dreams of control you will have to great lengths to keep what you already have. And that will be your toil until you die and have to go empty handed to dark depths that you have never gone to before.
It is better then to go the root of all these wishes and discover who is this person who makes so many demands to be satisfied. Who is the person that wishes to control the world and control the dreams? Understand the movement of mind called "person" and the wishes will dissolve naturally, and you will be free of work and toil forever.
Still, if you want to control dreams, the first step is attaining lucidity and awareness of yourself and your thoughts. In waking life, to be completely conscious at all times, to be mindful of your sensations, thoughts, emotions conscientiously in a non-distracted manner will make it so you attain lucidity also in dreams. "Am I dreaming right now?" Is the question to be asked constantly throughout the day. And also to consider that all of waking life is also a dream, ethereal, illusory and mobile is also another way to do it. Look at walls as if they're made of light; look at the as if it is water and you could dive in it at any moment. Look at your own body as if it was a projection. Then the world will gradually lose the grasp it has on you and you will take it less seriously. For more on the subject read "The Tibetan Yogas of Dream and Sleep" by Tenzin Wangyal.
