I wouldn't be surprised if they have sigils being activated or some other hidden messages in some of the matrixes of the display tech. Flat panels are inherently very different from tube/crt tech, you couldn't put tons of sigils on crt/tube it would've probably be found out much easily (since there used to be ton of people servicing those older TVs, but also because you could sometimes see the "inner workings" of the older TVs while it was on, e.g. when playing light gun games, there was less room for trickery)
Picrel is probably not how it works, in reality it's just flashing stuff quickly from different matrixes (like in picrel but it micro seconds) but it's also possible you don't need to actually see the matrix text or strobing on the screen itself for it to be effective, it could maybe be enough that it's happening behind the "black" panel (where all the logic happens), because you observing/viewing something is sort of "manifesting" something, so even if you're not seeing the word behind the black screen (the top layer), maybe you viewing the black screen is enough because you're observing an object, and even if you don't see the subliminals on lower layer you're still give an "ok" to this object (loa/manifestation stuff) by being an observer, that means giving ok to all aspects of the object, even the text encouraging you to self-harm or something.
Either that, or it's just fast strobing blue light alone that "has an effect" on your autonomic system without needing any words being put in there.. then all "blue light" is dangerous
