How do they compute 3D distances to an asteroid or comet?

Method 1: parallax measurements. Need two simultaneous observations from different vantage points. Not reliable when vantage points are close to each other vs distance to object. Such as with Atlas

2. Radar ranging. Needs huge radar installations such as Arecibo or NASA's Goldstone. Unreliable when object is farther than 1AU.

3. Orbit fitting, by measuring over several nights. Unreliable when object ejects mass, like a comet, or has propulsion.

4. Brightness, based on assumed reflectivity. Imprecise
