What the fuck even is gnosticism and why is /x/ the only place I've ever seen people who believe in it?
Is like a centralized religion with a singular holy text you all worship? Or is it many religions based on interpretations of random papers from the apocryphal new testament writings?
How do you know which apocrypha are "canon" to gnosticism and which are not? Is there any organization about this religion whatsoever?

I think mainstream Christianity is pretty organized, they have churches, holidays, some of them have a central church and a leader. They all share just one book in common. But gnosticism is just like "pick and choose the documents you believe in," there's no gnostic churches or leaders, it's all just everyone for himself. I don't get the religion. What do gnostics even believe.

Gnosticism really doesn't exist as a religion cause it was seen as heresy and basically forgotten about as time passed on. Now it's more of an idea of an evil being having created us, which resonates with /x/ retards like me.

That's how i personally see it, at least. Some dude out there is probably autistic enough to see it as his religion, but like you mentioned, there are lots of interpretations so *one* organized religion doens't exist today.

There were many different Christianities that existed before being whittled away resulting in what you seem to describe as one singluar mainstream Christianity (that doesn't actually exist, not even now). The books that your so-called mainstream Christian now views as canon were once simply books among many other books, many interpretations. What was considered "canon" wasn't uniform, and the fight to define what was canon involved a lot of active suppression and villainization. It's another example of victors writing history, and the reason why Catholics and Orthodox Christians number in the hundreds of millions to billion, while there are only about 70k Mandaeans worldwide.

Gnosticism existed way before the Christ cult. It's the perennial philosophy. Study any tradition established around the time of the Library of Alexandria anywhere in the world. They all say the same thing but in different ways.

The Catholic heresy has never convinced for very long and people have been questioning their obvious lies since the start. The state controlled churches are all heresies and half measures of reform. Read it and finally understand Genesis and all the rest.
