Fucking world of warcraft is so deeply burrowed into my mind. Just this little screen shot evoked some emotion from me. The nostalgia of the font and stuff. I still get the "oh shit good loot" reaction from the blue text. I didnt even play WoW that much compared to a lot of people. I played late vanilla all through BC and quit in early wrath of the lich king.

Best game there ever was at that time. I constantly wanted to let it ruin my life but I resisted it.

In Mario 3 the curtains pull back to reveal a stage with a checkerboard floor. Mario enters stage left. He fights the dragon and saves the princess.

In Mario 2, the heroes enter the dream-world to save the angels being held captive by a reptile.

In Zelda 2 you fight a literal Archon, and your own shadow T the end.

In OoT the game starts with prophetic dreams, a genesis story and ends with Link and Zelda in heaven as the great evil is defeated and the inhabitants of Hyrule party while the world falls into ruin as it is no longer necessary.

In Demon's Souls (2009), to beat the game you head north to a stone tower between two pillars of stone (Boaz and Jachin), to fight a wise king who spent his life gaining knowledge of magic and miracles (King Solomon).
A man dies on the steps to this tower after you fight three knights of the king to reach it (Hiram Abiff, the architect of the Temple of Solomon who as the story goes was murdered on the steps to the temple by three men after refusing to reveal the secrets of Freemasonry to them).

There is much, much more in the game which is too sublime for my tiny mind.
I will add that the Nexus is a Lodge and was at some point referred to by the developers as "Temple of the Wedge".

Also, I've always thought that the man in this painting has an eerily similar stance to how your character stands in Demon's Souls, and that the colours of the game eerily resemble the colours of this painting too.
