>The Hopi speak of Pahana, the “lost white brother,” and of a time when the world would be shaken by fire and great destruction if humans strayed from balance.
>There’s also the Blue Star Kachina prophecy, when a blue star (or celestial body) appears, it marks the start of the “Great Purification.”
>The Red Kachina or red star that brings the final upheaval or purification of the Earth, It’ll be seen at the end of the “Great Purification”
Now, in the atomic age, Hopi elders did comment that nuclear explosions represented humanity’s loss of harmony with nature, and they connected those “gourds of ashes” falling from the sky (atomic bombs) with earlier prophecies of destruction. They described them as gourds filled with ashes that can fall from the sky and burn the land.
>They said after that fire, the earth would shake and many of the sacred ways would be lost ,which lines up uncannily with the nuclear era.
Some Hopi stories (and similar Zuni or Navajo imagery) describe a period of darkness or a “black cloud” that covers the earth, symbolic of confusion, greed, technology gone astray, or spiritual blindness.
>“black” in this sense means void, the loss of the sacred light or the spiritual essence.
There’s also mention of a Black Kachina, who dances at the end of an age, a being representing chaos, disintegration, and the stripping away of illusions before renewal.
