x/ serious question. How come every time I try to sleep with the lights off the hat man shows up? When I was 3 years old my dad gave me an overdose of Benadryl. A few months later I was diagnosed with schizophrenia.Like, I realize I'm diagnosed with schizophrenia but even when I've been on my meds in most sane, every time I try to sleep with the lights off he shows up. I tried to sleep with the lights off for the first time in years a few days ago he showed up and said he had been watching everything I've been doing this whole time. Why does this keep happening? Apologies for the bad grammar I'm drunk and I keep stressing about the fact he follows me everywhere.

Bumping because I hope someone has a solution for you.
Your dad was horrible, I'm so sorry, and the hatman situation seems terrifying. Hold on anon.

this guy can't hurt you, don't be afraid and fight back. Fuck him up, insult him. He'll do nothing that little bitch. Unironically. Have you ever talked about it with a doctor?

It's just a symptom. Your meds won't make you not schizophrenic, just help keep your symptoms down, and even then not perfectly as far as I understand. Being scared and stressed out by this is probably making it worse, but those are both obviously natural ways to respond to something like that. Just try to remember it's not real and to reassure yourself. Talk to a friend or a family member about it if you can because that'll at least take the load off you a little, and give you some external reassurance. Having omeone who'll be paying attention in case any of your other symptoms act up is also good.

Sorry you gotta suffer with Hat Man hallucinations, OP. But it's in your head, and you'll be alright if you can recognise it's not real and that you can ignore it. The less scared or stressed you can make yourself, the easier it'll be to deal with.

visualize everything improving for you before you go to sleep. maybe write it down put it under your pillow. He's probably there to keep you on a timeline where they can drain your energy.

>When I was 3 years old my dad gave me an overdose of Benadryl.
LARP. an overdose would take like 20-30 pills. That isnt something a baby can do.

>A few months later I was diagnosed with schizophrenia
LARP. extremely rare for someone of that age (0.0025% chance)

Try again later

Is that the adult overdose amount? Overdosing a baby will take a lot less, and I'd assume it was liquid. Searching up stuff on Benadryl overdose I found
>Children under age 6 are at particular risk of accidental overdose because the Children’s Benadryl label doesn’t provide dose recommendations for this age range. And children younger than 2 years old generally shouldn’t take Benadryl at all.

Your mind is manifesting him. One strategy I use to get rid of him is to close my eyes, rendering what I’d be seeing if my eyes were open, then wave my hand in front of my face. This will ground you to the rendered reality of your mind, stripping the hat man of the opportunity to corrupt your visual input.

Sometimes I try to do household tasks (eg, cooking) with my eyes shut to practice this blindsight.

Hat man can’t visit blindsight.

Drinking in your psych meds is doing you no favors, lad.

Taking that much benadryl that young likely sent you to the layer of Elriel subconsciously. So every time you sleep you see him, because the act of sleep is just you sinking into your subconscious.

Eisen probably took pity on you, and is acting as your guardian angel so none of the other nasties of Elriel attack you while you sheep. Trust me, you don't wanna know what else lurks in Elriel. I've had to deal with them personally - nasty, despicable fuckers. I'm sure he'll find a way to make himself invisible to you eventually. Just keep praying to whatever higher power you believe in and it'll come.
