By trying to be virtuous in a way they'd agree with. By being mindful of them when doing something that would interest them. I try to pray to them during their hours and on their days, just to show respect. Sometimes burn some incense or light a candle in their honor to make prayer a little more formal.

I worship Silvanus and the local spirits from the forest around my home at a little glade a few miles away from home. I start with a prayer, a small offering of mead made from local ingredients, finally followed by some meditation until I feel at peace. I've also incorporated daily prayer at morning and nightfall, but that's more recent. Currently whittling an effigy of Silvanus to leave at the tree.
Whenever I'm out in the woods, I do what I can to fix injuries to the trees and, when applicable, administer some first aid to injured wild animals.

How does one get started with Paganism?

If you're worshipping a god, you're worshipping them. The "how" doesn't really matter, especially considering that many European folk traditions were destroyed by ethnic cleansing. Many popular religions have different sects and denominations because even they can't agree on the right way to do shit. A simple, guidelined way to practice worship of your chosen god/s I use is

As long as you're basing your faith on a god that had followers that were near where your family is from, then chances are there were probably a few followers of that god in your region. Silvanus is technically a Roman god, but there was a British god called Cocidius in the region my family is from, so I just based my faith on that. But if you're Irish and decide you're gonna build an altar to Quetzalcoatl you'd look pretty goofy.
