Someone told me that people who say they hate God secretly love God the most and it's really pissing me off because I'm wondering if it's true (I do not like God)

idk about the meanings or whatever but earlier today I confessed to a non christian friend that I sometimes call God a Cunt, and it does feel to me a bit like "He's the almighty, he can fucking take it." He is cuntish in my opinion

This but also they really want to love God. They feel bitter and angry and despair at the evil and pain in the world and they wished that God could make it all go away. If He did, they would love Him a lot. But because He doesn't swoop down and snap His fingers and make cancer and sadness and war and hunger all go away in a poof, they're still left there feeling miserable. Some may say this is a childish, immature way to think about God, but I think it's just a universal, fundamental experience of being human, really. Everyone someday realizes the world sucks and wonders why God lets it suck if He loves us so much. Everyone copes with or answers this question in a different way. Different strokes for different folks. Personally, during my many years as an atheist/just 'not religious' person, idk if I hated God per se, but I felt a lot of despair over why things had to be the way they are, a lot like the kind I described earlier. Years later, I became religious again and love God a lot. I think everyone has a different journey and some will involve faith/spirituality. I think talking about atheists/non religious people in a one-size-fits-all derogatory fashion absolutely does the opposite of welcoming people to learn about and consider faith or help already faithful people to foster and develop their faith.

Like, the main reason I left religion to begin with was because the version of it that was impressed upon me was garbage and only focused on dogma, rules, fire and brimstone, etc. There was no spirituality, love, tenderness, depth, etc. When I became an atheist, I heard plenty of religious people say all sorts of variations of how I just have to open my heart to God and He'd heal my wounds and that I was being prideful to not let Him in and that xyz thing about life that sucked was actually a blessing and a sign God loves us etc etc. This shit never made me feel anything but annoyance and frustration. I had to find my own version of faith on my own for everything to click and make sense in a way that works for me.

I'm rambling but one last thing that your post, op, makes me think of- one of the things that brought me back to faith and made me actually discover love for God for the first time in a genuine way was knowing that He already knows everything about me. He knows everything I think and feel. I have no reason to hide anything from Him and only He can have the soul-deep kind of understanding and compassion and empathy for me. He knows all my good and all my dark and hurt thoughts and feelings. He already knows and understands why I felt hurt by Him in the past and He still unconditionally loves and understands me. I don't need to even consider my ego in this equation because he already sees inside of me. What's there to front about? There were things I was still working though at the time when I became religious again that were also part of the reason I left the first time because I didn't think they were compatible with religion (turns out they are). But this mindset about God helped me deal with that fear because even if I felt apprehensive, I already knew that God knew exactly what I felt and thought and still accepted me, so there was no need to fear because I knew either way He'd love in the end anyway.

Because the main religions are a farce that sided with the enemy of God. Therefore, even Atheists are closer to the real Gods than those that follow Judaism, Islam, and Christianity.
Perhaps they emulate the feelings of God himself at the fake entities that prostrated themselves as owners of the world and called themselves God.

It doesn't necessarily have to mean that just because you claim something, the opposite is true like >>41421006 is implying.
Otherwise if we ever say we don't like something, people will take the wrong stance to assume you are hiding something.
More important than what they say is how they go about it.

The truth is God can't be blashemed. You hate with your conscious ability that's god-given at least from your perspective. Your ability to quantify anything and everything is the result of ultimately what can be conveyed as God's love, thus you can't actually hate or rather you can see hate as merely regress to love's ingress.

Maybe. I think people hate God because, personally, I don't like the fact that God limited me and that I'm not self suficient. I don't think that this is fair. That God is self suficient, but He limits us to be not self suficient. To me, this makes God a prick. What is He afraid of that He has to limit us? So I'm jealous and angry with God because He limited me and made me a human being. An ameba has a better life than us because it is ignorant of its lameness because it doesn't have a brain so it won't know it doesn't have a problem or that it is an ameba like us know that we are not gods. That's where my hate comes from. God limits me. God is a ruler. God holds me down. God did not give me wings, but instead He made us hunger for bread and water. Fuck that.

Religion isn't about truth, it's about purpose. The truth is life has no inherent purpose, but the human brain is too big for its own good so all that empty space begs to be filled in with something. The process of filling in the void is called critical thought and some people would rather let others think critically and reap the benefits for themselves. Case in point, Jesus was a man who stood against one of the most brutal systems of religious and political tyranny ever, yet his deification has been used to brutalize more people than the system that tortured and murdered him. If the truth mattered at all to his worshippers then they would sooner kill themselves than tell a child that everyone deserves to burn forever for simply existing.
