God cares about us because He is Love. He doesn't view you the way you would view an ant.
You look at an ant and see the exoskeleton, its limbs and its color. It bores you and you forget about it because someone is calling you. You dont really care about that ant.
God looks at you. He knows you by name. He saw you in your mother's womb before she even knew you were there. The exact moment of conception, God foreknew. He stitched together your very bones from the cellular matrix comprising your then undeveloped body. He saw you come into the world, heard your crying in the night and your laughter by day.
He saw you develop and learn about this world He made. All your pains and your stumbling and your coming short. God was there witnessing you.
God looks into you, and sees you. The real you. Everything about you, every breath, every instant of your being in complete understanding. You are so much more to Him than you know, but you should know that He Loves you and desperately seeks you out to save you from the corrupting influence of this world, which turns you against the Love of He who made you. This is why He died for you on that Cross.
When you die, you'll come into His presence and He will appraise you.
He will look at you, and hopefully like the skilled silversmith viewing his finished work will see the reflection of His own image within you.
God is Love, its all about Him.
