In my estimation, less than 0.01% of people have real, vivid experiences of God. Typically you have to be a saint or saint-like to get these experiences. Why is God so secretive and selective about who gets to experience these things, you might ask?

Consider a random atheist man who watches sports, lives in a trailer, gluttonous eating much fast food and soda and beer, jerks off daily...and God gave him a divine experience. Such a person is so far off from God, he might not even become a believer so it would be wasted on him.

Why aren't you working on making yourself holy and worthy to receive such an experience? In b4 "those people are psychotic/hallucinating". Do you really think all saints were hallucinating during their ecstasies of heaven/Christ/God? They got them because they were WORTHY.

Most experiences of god are "just" experiences with nonphysical entities like nature spirits, angels, jinn, ETs. The ones that aren't evil don't want to interact with humans unless they are saint-like. "Good" entities don't want to interfere with humans free will. But then again, a lot of benevolent entities like to interact with children, demented old folks, weird mentally ill people and so forth.

There's no guarantee that you'll get such an experience and there's even Catholic writings that speak against seeking out such things.

I wonder why there are those who get spiritual/divine experiences and those who never do.
I don't 100% think it's about their level of consciousness, since it can happen to those who are pretty set in their ways regarding their belief in materialism.
I'm incredibly fascinated in spiritual matters, and have always believed in something more than this life.
But, in all my life I've never had a divine experience, OBE, paranormal incident, aliens, etc. Never saw anything, or ever dreamed of the future. Not even where I was before I was born here, nada.
The best I have is a keen intuition, feeling of something that "speaks to me" but not like a voice, and feeling the "presence" of spirits/entities. However, these things are so vague that they may as well be my own imagination, because I tried to call out for a sign, and got nothing.
I am starting to think I'm nothing more than a hylic NPC that has interest in the supernatural because of all of this, so I might not even actually have a soul or spirit, since they say that might be rare in humans than what we thought before.
It sucks to feel things, feel for others, and know that I might just be another program in the system, and nothing more than that. Bummer.
