Except that the point was that at the end of Ragnarok this bitch had to go anyway so that Baldr could come back from the watery underworld abyss that he was living in.
Yes it does go in line with a bunch of other cosmic cataclysm events, like Varuna's demotion to the "ocean" and Ouranus becoming forgotten.
Probably an attempt at delaying the inevitable because the people that set up all this stuff are likely supporters of the female Venus figure.
So they were just trying to tarnish the reputation of the very same man that needs to come back from that abyss so that he can shine back on, that beautiful man.
