A Jedi may act to protect oneself or others, but it's a running thing that Jedi do not seek revenge.

Strictly speaking, yes. A major point of the Jedi path is to seek justice. Provided no laws are themselves broken, a Jedi should act to bring a wrongdoer to justice. In an esoteric context, if that requires use of magic, then yeah, I'd say go for it.

But again, you have to know this is about protecting others and seeking justice on their part. Not about spite, or even being a "Pure and Righteous Knight." That kind of thinking can lead to delusions of grandeur, wouldn't you say?
