>>217685 (OP) It's got a niche community coming back but nowhere near what it was like in the 90s and early 2000s.
COVID sorta reinvigorated the sport but it's mainly dudes who used to blade back in the 90s getting back into it

>>217685 (OP) I like near a skating rink and go periodically with my girlfriend. It seems to have a sizeable audience, I just prefer ice skating though.
Also even as a guy that like figure skating, the skating rinks are a bit gay for me.

I just bought some rollerblades. I haven't rollerbladed in 30 years. I never learned how to stop without a stopper. Thse don't have one
>>227872 I have no idea if that's a proper technique, but to stop I simply put my feet (slightly spread) at a 90° angle so it converts my energy (?) into one or two spins in a tight circle and I stop.
>>217715 I would say I mostly see older dudes doing it. When I go to skate parks I've seen a handful of other rollerbladers since I started rollerblading urban. Seen a couple younger women and 2 or 3 other younger guys. If you want to see a lot hit up Wednesday night skate in NY their numbers are around 2-300 every wednesday its pretty crazy

>>229745 Look up T stopping, I would say that's the best way, really grinds down your wheels I just replace mine every so often
>>233365 Can't do a T-stop to save my life, so I generally use skiing techniques to slow down.

>>229745 Yeah this is a proper method of stopping. At higher speeds though you're gonna wanna be careful to keep your weight low so you don't fall out of your spin backwards

I'm sure it's still out there. But now that I really think about it, the last time I actually saw somebody on rollerblades was probably around 1998 at the very latest.
>>235424 It just looks stupid. That's a critical problem. There is no way to make it look cool. Similar issue with scooters. Attempts have been and are being made to do scooter contests in street and park style venues. It all looks very difficult to do the elaborate tricks they do. However, this will NEVER be anywhere near as big as skateboarding or BMX due to the aesthetics. Too gay.
