There's more than one man on the banzuke, you know. I was watching sumo before Aonishiki came along and I'll be watching it after he retires too. He's not special or interesting enough to warrant four or five threads dedicated to him in the span of a couple of months.

If you're just here for the fighting there are plenty of other sports available. Nobody talks about what the UFC champion had for dinner on Tuesday. However, we're sumo fans here, and chanko duty is just as much a part of sumo as a playoff for the Emperor's Cup is.

Thus far, Dan was in Makushita for one extra tournament, and they both spent two in Juryo, so Onosato has the edge so far. Aonishiki hasn't been in the top division long enough to speculate on how well he measures up, but probability is against him. Onosato's trajectory is an extreme outlier even for men who reach Makuuchi quickly - we've all seen promising youngsters stall out far more often than we've seen them go straight to Ozeki.

That’s unlikely. That’s a pretty traumatic surgery and they would want his weight to stabilize before performing the procedure. He’s still losing weight. They’re not going to do multiple procedures.
And he’s in no hurry. Like the other anon said, he’s still young so his skin has more elasticity than someone in their 40s.
